One exam, a big step for your child
The 11+ opens the door to grammar schools and top independent schools — competitive places where preparation genuinely counts. But it tests skills, especially Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, that most primary schools don't teach.
Our job is to build those skills steadily and positively — so your child walks into the exam prepared and confident, not anxious.

11+ tutoring questions
What is the 11+ and what does it involve?
The 11+ is a selective entrance exam taken in Year 6 (age 10–11) for entry into grammar schools and many independent schools. It typically tests four areas: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning — though the exact mix depends on the school and region.
Which exam board or format do you prepare for?
Different schools use different formats — most commonly GL Assessment, the ISEB Common Pre-Test (for many independent schools), or CEM-style papers, plus some regional consortium tests. We confirm which format your target schools use and tailor preparation to it.
When should my child start 11+ preparation?
Most families start in Year 4 or Year 5 — roughly 12–18 months before the exam — so there's time to build skills steadily without pressure. That said, focused preparation closer to the exam can still make a real difference; message us and we'll advise honestly based on your timeline.
How much does an 11+ tutor cost?
Our 11+ tuition starts from £28 per hour, with the plan tailored to your child after a free trial lesson so you can see the fit before committing anything.
Are the lessons online, and does that work for younger children?
Yes — lessons are live, one-to-one and online, using interactive tools that keep younger learners engaged. Online 11+ tuition gives you access to specialist tutors regardless of where you live, with flexible scheduling around school.
