In short
The HSC (Higher School Certificate) is the NSW senior-secondary qualification awarded by NESA, and HSC results feed into the ATAR that UAC calculates for university entry. Students study Year 11 and Year 12 courses, school assessments make up half of each HSC mark, and the written HSC exams run in October and November of Year 12. Our one-to-one online HSC tutoring starts from A$55 per hour, after a free trial lesson.

How the HSC works
Half of every HSC mark is earned at school during Year 12 — so we plan around your assessment schedule, not just the final exams.
- The HSC is awarded by NESA, the NSW Education Standards Authority.
- Each course's HSC mark combines your moderated school assessment mark and your HSC exam mark, 50:50.
- Results are reported in bands 1–6, or E1–E4 for Extension courses.
- UAC calculates your ATAR from your best 10 units, which must include 2 units of English.
- Mathematics Extension 2 is a Year 12 course taken alongside Extension 1.
- NSW is introducing new mathematics syllabuses — we confirm which version your cohort is examined on before the first lesson.

HSC tutoring questions
Do you tutor the NSW HSC online?
Yes. All lessons are live, one-to-one and online, so we work with students across NSW — Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, regional NSW — with no travel involved.
Which HSC courses do you tutor?
Mathematics Advanced, Extension 1, Extension 2 and Standard 2, plus Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We also support Years 9–10 maths and science ahead of Year 11 course choices.
Can you help with school assessment tasks?
Yes — we teach the content and skills each task tests, run practice under timed conditions and give feedback on your practice work. We don't complete assessed work for students; it has to be their own.
Do you cover the new NSW maths syllabus?
NSW is moving to new mathematics syllabuses. At the free trial we confirm your year group and which syllabus your cohort is examined on, and teach to that version.
When do HSC lessons take place?
We schedule in Sydney time (AEST/AEDT), with after-school, evening and weekend slots so lessons fit around a full school day.
How much does an HSC tutor cost?
Lessons start from A$55 per hour for Years 9–10 and A$65 per hour in the HSC year, with the plan tailored after a free trial lesson. There's no payment for the trial.
