In short
The QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) is Queensland's senior-secondary certificate, set by the QCAA, and QTAC calculates the ATAR from QCE subject results. Students take Units 1–4 across Years 11 and 12; in Year 12 each subject has three internal assessments and an external assessment held in October and November. Our one-to-one online QCE tutoring starts from A$55 per hour, after a free trial lesson.

How the QCE works
In Year 12, three internal assessments and one external exam make up each subject result — so we plan for all four.
- The QCE is awarded by the QCAA, the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
- Each General subject runs as Units 1–4; Units 3 & 4 in Year 12 are summative.
- Units 3 & 4 have three internal assessments (IAs) and one external assessment (EA).
- In maths and science subjects the external assessment is worth 50% of the subject result.
- QTAC calculates your ATAR, which requires an English subject.
- QCAA updates its senior syllabuses on a cycle — we confirm your cohort's syllabus version before the first lesson.

QCE tutoring questions
Do you tutor the QCE online?
Yes. All lessons are live, one-to-one and online, so we work with students across Queensland — Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Townsville and regional Queensland.
Which QCE subjects do you tutor?
Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, General Mathematics and Essential Mathematics, plus Physics, Chemistry and Biology, from Units 1 & 2 to Units 3 & 4. We also support Years 9–10 maths and science.
Can you help with the PSMT and other internal assessments?
Yes — we teach the skills each task tests, such as modelling, justification and communication, and give feedback on practice work. We don't write assessed work for students; it has to be their own.
How much is the external assessment worth?
In maths and science subjects the external assessment is worth 50% of the final subject result, so we build exam technique for both the technology-free and technology-active papers.
When do QCE lessons take place?
We schedule in Brisbane time (AEST — Queensland doesn't use daylight saving), with after-school, evening and weekend slots.
How much does a QCE tutor cost?
Lessons start from A$55 per hour for Years 9–10 and A$65 per hour for Units 3 & 4, with the plan tailored after a free trial lesson. There's no payment for the trial.
